Week 74 – Laughter is a great medicine.

Laughter is a great medicine and today I had Jill laughing when I read an email we had received this week– from a fellow sufferer of MSA – he is only 40 and is suffering a very progressive form of MSA but has a great approach to this lousy disease. He calls it AFMD. His mom thinks it’s funny. And sometimes that’s what he tells people, because they always feel they have to ask. It keeps them guessing. It’s a f***ing movement disorder. He doesn’t mean to disregard anyone’s feelings, but he tries to make light of it so depression doesn’t get him. We can understand how he feels.

The rain over the weekend was great and we finished with up with 28mm. Jill has been down at the netball courts each evening – great with daylight saving. We can have tea and still have time before it gets to dark Thursday night Jill again improved her distance walking (with crutches) – 5 netball courts without a rest. Very tired at the end but would not stop. Yesterday we had our final visit to the Speech Department at the Albury Base Hospital. I am sure they were impressed with Jill and the fact that she had continued to do the exercises. But for a slight cold with blocked nose she was very good.

I hope somebody backed Efficient in the Melbourne Cup. No such luck here – we are once a year mug punters and spent $20 to win $1.80 – I think it will cost me more in diesel than $1.80 to collect our winnings. Mum had also put us into the St Catherine’s sweep still no luck.

We have booked our site (number 100) at Echuca Caravan Park for 10 days (December 2-12) with Jeannette & Gavin. We are both feeling excited to be getting away from here.

We watched a DVD that comes with a caravan magazine and one of the presenters cooked some meat balls. I decided to have a go as my meatballs are always pretty ordinary. They were great – so below is the recipe.

DVD Meatballs

Onion diced (cooked in frypan until soft)

Meat – ½ pork mince and ½ beef mince ( 500gm of each)

Curry Powder – 1 table spoon

Soy sauce – 1 table spoon

Honey – 1 table spoon

Eggs – 2

Bread Crumbs – ½ cups

Salt & Pepper

Mix the ingredients and add cooked onion and bread crumbs.

Shape into balls – roll on flour – approximately 14 (we have 10 in the freezer) -and cook in frying pan with extra virgin Olive oil.

Serve with a tossed salad and asparagus spears.

An early night and we will see you next week on the net.
