Week 127 – Day 15-16 ” Free weekend”

It’s Monday morning and Jill is having Electric Wave and Acupuncture. In between we have had doctor’s rounds and they checked Jill’s lungs again and turned her over and padded on the back to help loosen the congestion. The Doctor suggested that I do it on a regular basis. They are also going to put her on a nebuliser and to continue on with the cough syrup. The doctor said that Jill was to receive her stem cells on Wednesday from her own bone marrow – can you imagine approximately 100 million Stem cells combining with the 30million already implanted. The next 3-6 months will tell the tale. We were actually up and showered by 7.30am and ready to head to the OT room for the acupuncture when Owen was at the door and it is being conducted in our room again. We just had a visit from Jon and his mother. Jon suggested that they may attempt to get us into a room with a larger toilet shower if possible. His baby is due on Saturday. It is obvious who is in charge – we have been allocated room 14 (Sharon, her father & mother used 14) we just checked it out and the bathroom is about twice the size.

The last couple of days were free days; no doctor’s or therapists just nurses – checking temperature and blood pressure and ourselves. On Saturday Jill and I walked to the lounge and sat for a while where we met Al and his wife and several others. We continued down the passage to the PE room and while Jill sat on one of the massage benches I through a large colourful soft ball to her. She also had a walk in the parallel bars and over the small hurdles, then up and down the steps. We again sat for a while before heading back to the Number 11. We ordered Lunch and dinner and watched DVDs. Sunday was a much better day out side but still cold. I got up at 6 am and tried to decide wether to call Macca on Australia All Over. I made the call at 6.15 and was kept oh hold for about 30 minutes before getting to speak to Macca. Not long after I was off air, Allison rang and then Chris and finally an email from Pat. I hoped that mum was listening but guess that if she wasn’t one of the other residents at St Cath’s would have heard and let her know. The rest of the day was similar to Saturday except the PE room was locked. I arranged for Amanda to get us an adjustable toilet chair similar to the one Jill uses at home and it certainly has solved the problem of low toilet and lack of reachable hand rails.

We watched several Z grade DVD’s during the day and decided we may be better just to read or listen to the ABC.

See you tomorrow on the net.
