Week 124 ” Happy Birthday my Love”

The count down continues – this time next week we will be about an hour out of Hong Kong probably finishing breakfast. The major event this week is Jill’s birthday – today. We are going out for dinner with Allison & Chris Jill’s Aunty Jean and Mum. I don’t think that today will do any good for the diet; Tuesday is the last weigh in before we go. Jill had a bone density scan on Thursday and the results show that there has been no change since 2006 – so I suppose that is good news. It will have some bearing whether Jill has a BMT as part of the stem cell therapy in China. We have been preparing for our next adventure. Everything we need to take is laid out in the back bedroom and it almost looks like a chemist shop. My only worry is getting it through customs into China. I thought I should ask our GP to write a letter to say that they are required medication. I purchased an electronic translator but I am not happy with it and I think I will return it tomorrow. Jill has finished her antibiotics so we will have to keep our fingers crossed that the infection stays clear. She was prescribed a new drug which is an antibacterial but she had a reaction each time she took it – so it has been added to our chemist shop collection.

We had some excitement last night. We had been in bed about an hour and the alarm went of on the Jeep and continued while I remembered where I had put the keys. Finally I opened the car and I had no idea what had set it off, back in bed for about 10 minutes and the alarm went off again. Again I got up, found my way out to the car with the keys this time and opened the car. As I opened the door a moth flew around the car. The trigger for the alarm was obviously the moth. I opened all the doors and it disappeared into the darkness. I guess I owe all our neighbours an apology for the noise. As I came back into the house I noticed the cat had been sick on the carpet so I spent the next half hour cleaning the carpet. I didn’t tell Jill about the cat. It is not Jill’s most popular pet. I haven’t seen Allison and Chris this morning so I will have to apologise to them as well.

I’ve had a couple of emails from other stem cell patients who are either about to head to China or are already there. Like us they are positive that this is the right thing to do – It gives us a new glimmer of HOPE

I guess the next blog will be late as we arrive into Qingdao about 1.30pm (Local time- 4.30 pm EDT) and I am told that the internet connection is a bit iffy. I will get a telephone card in China to use the mobile. When we get established we will be on Skype – do a search and give us a call.

Check out Chris and Nicole’s blog for pictures of their new front lawn – finished yesterday.

Well I had better wake  Jill up and give  her present and a birthday kiss.

See you on the net from Qingdao next week

    Hi Mac.

My mom and I are at home now.
We have spent 42 days in the Xiaoshan Hospital and she received 7 injection(2 IV, 5 spinal).
I haven’t see any significant improvement right now, but the preliminary result is positive.
Now she is able to swallow saliva and it has became easier for her to open her mouth.
The doctor told me that it takes at least 75 days for the stemcells to transform into neuron.

How much time did it take for Jill to see some significant improvement after the first treatment?

    Jason
