Day Sixteen – The third Stem cell Treatment

We have had a long and tiring day waiting for the stem cells to arrive. Jill had a restless night and decided not to have the massage this morning. I think I should have opted to take it in her place.
The nurse arrived about 10.30 am and administered another herbal mixture through the IV. It is making all the difference – appetite is back – arguing is back and she has started to regain some strength.
Dr Liang arrived this morning on his rounds and again reassured us that everything would go to plan. As I said her appetite is back – because she cannot eat for three hours before the Stem cell injection I was sent off to order lunch from our favorite Lily. I ordered Day of the soup. Baked pork on rice and Beef & broccoli on rice for lunch which will give us enough for dinner as well.
We have been advised that the injections will arrive about 4pm so we have until 1 am to finish lunch.
The rest of the day was fairly quiet, but we were both very nervous and anxious as to what was happening.
Right on 4pm Dr Liang arrived and administered the Stem Cell injection – no hitch and then the IV with the growth hormone was put in. Then the long wait started. I don’t know if any of you realise how difficult it is to lie flat on your back for 4 hours, no pillow for your head. I read Margaret’s book The Kite Runner to Jill out loud to help fill in the time. The only problem is the need to go to the toilet. With several false alarms the four hour mark came up and we headed to the toilet.
I heated the lunch leftovers and we are now relaxing.Everything has gone exactly as Dr Liang & Jon had said.We made several phone calls and MSN messages to let everybody know. I noted that we had a comment from a Cerebella Ataxia sufferer and Chris has forwarded on email to them. Part of my reason to go on Macca was to offer some hope to other Ataxia sufferers
See you all tomorrow on the net.

James and Kym are going to help Keith clean out the shed and start preparing to build a skillion on the back. Saturday the kids and I are going to a pantomime–Peter Rabbit-Great Grandma said she would like to come too.We are going to the Gateway for dinner for Kath Nero’s 60thbirthday on Saturday night. The O’Sullivans are going too I think.
Keep your chin up miracles do not happen in a flash. I have confidence in your effort.Love you. Pat
