Day Fifteen- Our right arm has headed home

The World Cup kept every one on the edge of their seats last night and we have had several including Dr Liang come in and offer their condolences about Australia’s loss. Quite a few stayed up in the TV room to watch, Wayne went to the Sign Bar over the road to watch and got back late and was locked out of the 19th floor. He had to get one of the guards to let him in.

Seems like we have a string of early mornings. We were up at 4am to get Allison to the airport on time. The van picked her up at 5am and by now she will be winging it back home. There were quite a few tears after she was gone .Jill’s very tired still, the early mornings don’t help. Another massage and the chap didn’t listen again, he was easier on Jill’s back but continued to work on her neck. Dr Liang ordered another IV – Chinese herbal medicine and she is asleep on the couch. It takes about 2 hours for the IV to run through. Jill was certainly more alert yesterday and he says they will have a lasting effect

Some of the Stem Cell patients have gone to visit a lychee orchard to pick and taste lychees- it would be a bit difficult to drag the IV with us. However they brought some back for us to taste. We have been told they are better cold.

Great News, Valerie & her son Jason both had their third Stem cell injection into the spine yesterday and both are feeling great. Both were up after their compulsory 4 hours lay up. Jason watched the soccer. No headaches or fever. This will have a positive effect on Jill as Wednesday approaches. Val stopped us in the passage and gave some encouraging words to Jill.

We have been down to level 4 for rehab. They are extremely busy with rehab for a wide range of injuries and Stem cell patients again with a wide range to problems. We were there for 2 hours and had to wait for the various apparatus. The lifts are running like clockwork. We are still using the service elevators .I just have to avoid the morgue.

Early this morning I could hear a PA system operating , about 7.45am and from the window in the passage, where it looks down over the school and playing fields, we could see about 1000 students doing exercises and parading.

In all today has been very uneventful, no dead bodies, no lift problems and no bank lines of people. We have just ordered a Hawaiian pizza. and intend to go to bed early and watch a video. We want to be well rested for the third stem cell treatment tomorrow.

    Hi Mum and Dad,

It is 11.30 pm, got home from airport just a little while ago. Tia is not giving me much attention yet, pay back for not being here with her. Chris has bought me a white gold mud cake from the Cheese cake shop, as he thought I might need it tonight. And there was a lovely bunch of flowers as well, gerberas, lilys the works, my favourites. He must have missed me. Will call you tomorrow. Love you both.

Hi, My mother heard your story on AAO on Sunday and wanted to know more. She is in hospital suffering Cerebellar Ataxia (in very poor health) as a result of cancer. She has had my father ringing the ABC around the country trying to track down what the story was – and this has lead us to your website.

Can you please tell me what Jill’s condition is, i.e. is her Cerebellar Ataxia a result of cancer or other illness? I can’t work it out from reading through your website entries. Thank you if you are able to respond.
    Regards, Stephen Champness
