Hi – a good night- an early rise as Jill had a massage at 8.30am. The same serious chap. Allison said mum neck was a bit sore and not to massage to hard. So he took it to task and massaged it twice as much. She did feel better after the massage and ate breakfast, watermelon, grapes and small piece of toast. Dr Liang visited about 9.30am and we asked more questions about the stem cell injections and in his Chinese/English tried to allay any fears we might have. He also prescribed another IV for Jill with herbal medicine in it to give her a pick up and improve her energy levels.
Great news – I forgot to tell you I finally was able to get to a bank that accepted my debit card, The Construction Bank of China – which is a few blocks away. Elizabeth took Wayne & I by taxi, first to the Post Office and then to the bank. Remember this was Sunday and both were open. They had six ATM machines and only one took our cards. We both stocked to with bulging wallets 3000RMB’s about $500. I checked my ANZ account this afternoon and the $500 is already gone.
I have been using Skype and noticed that you can purchase a Melbourne number for $16.00 for 3 months. Which means that anyone can call me on their own phone to my Skype number for either a local or STD call.
Our number is 03 9018 5138
We have spent about 2 hours on and off trying to rectify the fact that my mobile will not receive calls – they all go direct to message bank and still does not work- I can make calls. I hope the Skype alternative solves the problem.
This afternoon Jill and I have been to rehab. First to the physical; this consists of a set of three exercises. Five minutes then a break of four and the final one is 10 min with a break of 5. Then to Voice which is about 3/4 hour hooked up to the throat exercise machine. Jill says she can taste metal when the unit is operating. Allison left at the same time to go to the Rainbow Super market as we went down to Rehab.
We went to the lift at the end of Rehab and guess who was in the lift, she was laden with all the shopping.
When we got back to the room and packed away all our groceries to last a week. I went looking for a mobile phone for Jill; she wants a pink flip phone. I also got some more memory cards for a couple of orders that had been placed with the Mac & Jill China Adventure.
Coming back was another adventure- Next to the hospital is a large brick building with the door open and inside are stacks of black garbage bags with a couple of blokes checking each and recycling different things, the smell was terrible. Finally when I got back to the lift and had to wait for it to arrive at level 1. The lift door opened and inside was dead body wrapped in a sheet. I decided not to get in and waited for the next lift.
We have had tea out tonight as it’s Allison’s last night with us. She had her favourite Chinese meal as did I . Jill has been craving meat allday , I wonder if the IV is working but her eyes were bigger than her stomach so I have half of hers. With Allison leaving at 9 am tomorrow morning from Hong Kong International Airport- we will have to be up at 5am for her to be picked up. There is no doubt the tears will flow as Jill and I relied on her so much over the last week. I am certain the tears will also well up in my eyes. We just went on line to Qantas and Allison has been upgraded to Business class for the return flight. I am certain she will enjoy that.
Jill & Mac out for dinner – note the Chinese Green Tea

Hi Mac and Jill,
A dead body!!! You could probably just write about the lifts each day, and you would have enough for a book at the end of your stay!
We like the sound of Jills returning appetite, and her great smile in the 2 photos.
Love Louise & Keiran
Sounds like you need a “pick me up”–go to a bar and get a stiff whisky. Keith says it is darkest before the dawn so tomorrow all will be better. You will miss Allison but soldier on old fellow you are doing a great job I am proud of you.
When next you phone I have some camera details.
Love to you all. Good luck with third injection
Pat
Hi Mac and Jill. I have just arrived at Lauren’s at Mitcham from Wang. Had no internet access there so logged straight on here and have skimmed your entries. Had a great chat to Chris on Saturday night as I had tried to send you a text about an hour after you rang Mum Thurday. It was good to hear their plans and after talking to him reading your diary tonight made even more sense. Did a walk by Hogan Street last Saturday evening and all looked normal. In fact the fishtank was a shining beacon from the street. There’s probably a sitcom in your accommodation or maybe a lifestyle program. Possible titles Changing Lifts or Somewhere over the Rainbow. Go cats. I am going to Adelaide this weekend with a group and will go to the footy. My James/Jimmy is due to play a blinder so maybe this week. We have been enjoying the world cup and watching the games live. Wang has been -3 and -4 last two mornings so plenty of frost and sleep ins. Mum posted another card on Friday. I will see if she can read your diary perhaps through Judy. Saw Auntie Jean on Sat. and she rang Mum on Sunday morning to say a friend of hers had heard you on Good Morning Australia! Well Mac it sounds like you’ve got the support network under control and Jill is in the best possible hands all round. Love from Joan, Lauren, Jean and Ian.
