Week 134 – ” Wii for Exercise and fun”

We have been home a month, the cold and the jet lag have gone. Finally I can say we are back into our routine. As before exercise and practice takes over our lives. Each morning involves speech and leg massage, afternoons exercise in the gym. With the arrival of the Wii, exercise has taken a whole new meaning. It becomes a little more light hearted and you can compete against your last score to achieve an improvement. We used the Wii fit board and logged Jill in with her new identity (avatar) “Jilly”. She was able to build us her own look alike and then proceed through the introductory regime. While standing on the Wii fit platform, we entered Jill’s height and date of birth – the Wii electronically weighs her and shows her BMI and suggests how to go about reducing it to a level of 22.

Through a series of exercises that concentrate on balance and muscle etc we hope to see some improvements. Jill has surprised me with her ability to do the exercises and with her normal determination and must win attitude she will improve – again practice. We also have a sports program where you can get some aerobic exercise as well. Tennis, Baseball, 10 pin bowling and boxing all make you perspire and aware that you are using long forgotten muscles.

Come , visit and participate in the Keenan sports spectacular.

Pat brought us a bucket of apricots last Sunday and we have stewed some and made the balance into jam. So breakfast is usually cereal and stewed apricots. She also dropped off a couple of kilos of cherries. I need to hide them from Jill- one of her favourites.

Summer has been finding it hard to establish it’s self. Finally we are supposed to have 36-38C this week and Jill will be back in the pool for that low impact exercise- she can walk in the water (not on) and she feels free again.

We have had several emails from our new stem cell friends from Qingdao and it is great to hear some positive news from them.

There are more Birthdays this coming week.

Nicole – Friday – HAPPY BIRTHDAY – Love and best wishes to you both Mum & DAD

Well it is breakfast time and Jill is getting restless –

I will bring Erin and Euan around for a challenge. They are well schooled on the WII.Grandma doesn’t have one so it is farm animals, television and computers and craft activities when they come to visit. I have a house full of paintings since Erin’s stay and she has arranged flowers in all the bedrooms.

Hi Jill and Mac – I have been following your progress with great interest over the last year or so. I would have recognised you anywhere Jill from your photo – you have kept your beautiful titian coloured hair. Would love to hear from you on my email if you would like to have a “catch up” conversation. Happy New Year and love to you and your family . Diana.
