We are at Chris and Nicole’s and as usual my computer does not like Chris’s network. The weeks seem to fly past and not much happens. Normal visits to doctors , exercise both voice and physical – we should be fantastic. Jill has a nasal infection and is on a cortosne spray and our netti pot.
Jess is being look after by Lorna and Peter our ever reliable neighbours while Jake is staying at the Pet Resort – Home away from Home. We left about lunch time on Friday armed with gardening tools – looking forward to some gardening at Paspalum Drive. We had borowed Pat and Keith’s Horse float to delived a sideboard which had been in storage since Mum had moved into St Catherines. The sideboard would have some of those stories Pat eluded to in her comment last week – I certainly remember the sausage fight in Dunkeld. The sideboard was purchased by Mum & Dad after our house was burnt down around 1947-8 along with other household furniture. So we are not certain of its age – but must be close to 80+ at a guess.
With all the rain Chris’s planed garden area was soaked and we would have been up to our necks in mud and been soaked into the bargain. So we decided to clean up the sideboard and put it into its new location. A visit to Bunnings to buy some furniture polish and a couple of wood working tools ( tennon saw and a fine panel saw) and we were able to commence the small restoration work. To relocate, we had to remove the back board and the contact covering in the cupboards and drawers . A couple of hours of polishing and it was ready to be moved. We had about 40mm of rain at Paspalum Drive and their backyard is awash again – obviousely we will need to do some drainage so this does not occur each time they get a heavy down pour. Wangaratta had about 60mm – I guess our pool will be overflowing as I had filled it up on Thursday because I was worried about the evaporation over the 4 days we were to be away.
Yesterday Nicole’s brother, wife and family arrived for a visit on their way back home after a holiday up the south coast of NSW and across tp Dubbo – a visit to Western plains Zoo and finally via here to home at Peterborough. It was Michelle’s ( Nicole’s sister inlaw) birthday on Saturday so Nicole made a mud cake to celebrate. Gluten free of course and very nice.

I am sitting in Nicole’s kitchen using Chris’s laptop and it is Monday morning – It is 7.30am and they have headed off to work. Jill is still in bed. We have all been watching the tennis on the big screen so some late nights – not 4am though.
Well I had better make a move and get packed to head of to Wangaratta.
