Week 128 – Day 25 ” Out for a walk”

We have followed the usual schedule for the day, we slept in a bit and that put us behind, with Owen also late things were back on track. Even the doctors were on time; Jill was lying on her bed with that pin cushion look. They again checked Jill’s chest with the stethoscope and confirmed every thing was clear. They asked Jill several question directly and force the answers, the doctors all were pleased with her speech. They are now asking the same things “Have we noticed any improvements following the stem cells.” I wish that I could say with confidence there were some changes, every now and then I think I see something but I really think that Jill’s overall tiredness would be masking anything. I told them that I expected to see something over the next few months and would certainly let them know.

I was able to arrange for an extra day of rehabilitation on Saturday – scheduled as a free day. Owen came with one of the interpreters and confirmed he would come in on Saturday morning just for Jill. Sunday will be our only free day before we head for home on Tuesday.

After lunch while Jill rested up for the afternoon exercises I went for a walk up to the park and I wandered through and look at the water feature (not operating) but there was music through a speaker system. While I was there several cleaners started to sweep the large expanse of pathways. The area is very large and spreads over several blocks. I took lots of photos and even found another high wire painter operating in a nearby building. On my way I passed the entrance to the workers quarters and there were two groups of people sitting on the ground playing cards. I was not game to ask if I could take a photo so I just walked past.

Back at the Hospital entrance there was a armoured security van and sitting inside the hospital near the office were three guards with hand guns and rifles , another group I could not ask for a photo. I moved to the shop and purchased some fruit and asked the shop lady could I photograph her and her shop. She smiled and obliged and in broken English/ Chinese asked where I was from. As I left there was a confrontation between a bloke and the hospital staff and I was hoping that these guards were not going to become involved. I decided the lift was a good place to be.

Our next event was Jill’s exercise session at 3.30 pm. Owen massaged her and had her lifting weights and various other exercises. He finally kept asking was she tired to which she kept saying ‘no” Then I think the penny dropped and she said “yes” and Owen finished the session. She was indeed tired as she lay down on her bed as soon as we got back to number 14. We have had an early dinner, spoken to both Allison & Chris on Skype and ready for an early night.

It’s more of the same tomorrow.

See you on the net tomorrow.
