Week 23 – Does anyone want a meal at McMac Motel?

It’s Sunday morning, there is a beautiful blue sky, the birds are chirping and Jake is sitting at my feet as faithful as ever. Jill is slowly improving; as usual with her strength and determination she is trying to wean herself of the morphine. I guess it’s going to take some time. Jill woke at midnight last night and since our automatic watering system is me I ventured outside and set the timer on the sprinkler out the back the front lawn is brown but i guess it will revive when we get some rain. Out watering time is midnight to 4am on alternate days. As I said last week Stem cells are in the news again because of the Government debate. On Monday morning we had two phone calls to arrange interviews all following the one in the local paper. The Breakfast announcer on regional ABC Joseph Thomsen rang early and I was on the ABC again at 9am. He just let me talk and you know how I am when that happens. The next call was from Prime TV and a interview at home was arranged for 10.30. The journalist Gloria Kalache and her cameraman arrived and Gloria with a little persuasion was able to get Jill and I in front of the camera. They arrived at 10.30am and left at 11.45am. The interview went to air in the local evening news at 5.30pm. I hope to get a copy of the interview and will include it in next week’s diary. As with last week the district nurse has continued to visit and her last visit was Friday. It has been great ot have them just in case. Beth our physio has called every second day during the week and is sure Jill is improving. She has timed her doing certain tasks and tells me that they are getting easier.

Jill says that my mum never taught me to cook and 40 years on Jill didn’t teach me either. I am trying, I am using the CSIRO Diet Cook book and the odd meal is OK. We are being looked after by Jill’s Aunty Jean and my sister Pat We will need to concentrate on the CSIRO book when Jill is back behind the stove as I am certain that I have put on weight.

For those out there that know Gwen ( my Mum) She appears to be settling into the life style at St Catherines and if you would like to ring her she has the same number she had at Murdock Rd , suggest that you ring her after 8 pm and give her a suprise.

We arranged a bell and alarm system for Jill if she needs anything while I am in the kitchen and the bell just rang, the request is for a couple of Keiran’s eggs and bacon. So I had better finish here and do what the mistress requests.Tis is what is called 5 star service at the McMac Motel. See you next week on the net.
