Week 17 – Changes are often unnoticed when you are to close

Another new beginning – I logged into our diary site on Friday night as I do most days and low and behold it had disappeared and what you are looking at now had appeared. This is what happens when you have a son who keeps an eye on what you are doing.I think it certainly gives the impression that everything is changing for the better. We have had a busy week with appointments, exercising and normal life things and the week has flown past. Jill is the strongest person that I know as she keeps going even when she feels lousy. Like every body we have our good days and our bad ones, but she is always in the Gym each morning, reminding me about our walk in the afternoon and back in the gym before tea.I keep getting asked whether I am using the exercise equipment with Jill. I keep thinking that I must do it. On Friday I got on each exercise chair, then the treadmill and finally the bike. I have tried each of them before but not for an extended time. The leg stretching was like riding the camel in Broome and my hips are still aching. I have promised Jill I will continue to do the exercised at least once a day.

We keep looking for changes or improvements and probably because you are so close the changes can go unnoticed. Jill was talking to a Doctor last Wednesday and he asked what things worried her the most. She replied that her speech – especially the slurring, her balance and her walking. He looked at her and then said what slurring – We hadn’t noticed that the slurring appears to have disappeared except for when she is very tired.

We watched a program on SBS the other night on Stem cell transplant in China and it certainly brought back many memories. For those who have Austar watch out for a program called Super cells on the Discovery Channel which was filmed by National Geographic at Nanshan Hospital where they interviewed Hal Burrows who we had the pleasure to meet and become friends.

Another week has disappeared and retirement is not how I expected it to be.

See you next week on the net.

    Hi,
Keep up the good work! Not long now till the knee injections!!!
The revamped site looks good, just takes a bit of getting used to where things are now. A change is as good as a holiday supposedly.
    love Allison
