Week 113 “Olympic Games China 2008 “

It’s Tuesday and I just received a phone call from Margaret (Jill’s sister inlaw) asking if something was wrong as I hadn’t listed our blog this week.

Last week we had a couple of walks at the netball courts, Tuesday after our walk Jill had her weigh in at Kate Morgan – all smiles as she has now lost 10kg over the past 12 weeks. On Thursday we went to Melbourne for our annual appointment with Jill’s neurologist. As usual there was nothing to comment about. We mentioned we were going to China and his comment was he didn’t think as a doctor that it was economically viable as there were no medical trials and results posted but it was up to us. He suggested that we should keep in touch with Dr Richard de Steiger an orthopaedic surgeon (Jill saw him prior to going to China in 2006). He is doing stem cell treatment of broken bones and cartilage. We saw an article in the Herald Sun last week where he was doing trials on patients with broken bones and was having some success and said that they would be doing general patients in about 5 years. I will write him a letter and see where that leads.

We went out to Chris and Nicole’s and spent the weekend there, watching the opening of the Olympics and the subsequent events which meant late nights. As I have said in the past it is fantastic watching a screen that is about 3 meters wide. We had decided to cleanup an area for Nicole’s vegetable garden, build a couple of raised beds and get some soil. We got the area cleared of weeds and had the red gum sleepers delivered. Then the rain came, rained off and on all night and we awoke to a small lake. We decided to cut and drill all the sleepers so they can be assembled when the lake evaporates. We headed for home on Monday arriving about 2pm. Jess met us at the front door and I had to go and collect Jake. He is always excited to see us. Lorna (our great neighbour) had looked after Jess even turned on the central heating for her.

Jill is back on the crazy vibrating machine while I am on the computer. She even had a go yesterday not long after arriving home. I went to St Cath’s to check on mum. They have been having their own Olympics at St Cath’s with lots of games and special entertainment and meals. The sign at the entrance is interesting advising you are entering a drug free enhancement precinct.

We had an email from an MS sufferer – Ree from Australia- who is at Hangzhou at the moment and is currently having BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant). Her Blog site is:

During the week Chris sent us an email with a redirect to the Google map site. Have a look at Hogan Street Wangaratta.

Then type in 14 Hogan St Wangaratta 3677. Now you can meander up and down Hogan Street.

Pat and Keith left for Hawaii on Saturday. They are attending a wedding and having a break I hope they have a great time

I hope that I am back on track next week See you on the net.
