Week 408 “Happy Birthday my MSA Angel”

I wish Jill's footprints were beside mine

October 26th arrived and another milestone – the first time I didn’t have Jill to share her birthday. I wished I had been home with my family.  I rose early and walked the beach looking for a cowrie shell to give Jill & left my footprints in the sand wishing that Jill’s were right beside me. Every time we went to the beach – she always wanted a cowrie shell. I had no luck, plenty of broken ones but either my eyesight is failing or I just could not find a whole one.

Early in the morning our kids and grand kids made the journey to Wangaratta to visit their mum and grandma. Pat my sister had already been to the cemetery with some pink roses and a cup of coffee and sat and talked to Jill. She sent me a photo and it looked fantastic with the red rose out in flower. A couple of hours later Allison, Chris, Chris, Nicole, Riley and Lucas arrived with some more flowers and Riley also had a cowrie shell.

I went to “The Tree at 1770” where Jill’s sister, Gav and two friends had a brunch and coffee and reminisced about our last time together at Eildon. I am glad I had someone with me and the memories we talked about were important.

Happy Birthday my MSA Angel

I received lots of messages on Facebook and my heartfelt thanks go out to every one.

Next morning we went to the local 1770 market. I looked for something to take home as we always did – I’m still looking. As usual I am walking morning and evening along the beach and last night there was a wedding being held on the beach and photos being taken so as not to intrude I held back and there at my feet was a cowrie shell – guess I was meant to find that one.

Since I haven’t been fishing we decided to go to the local fresh fish outlet. I brought some whiting fillets and later this afternoon I will go back for some fresh mackerel.

Our time here is drawing to an end – we head south to Brisbane on Wednesday with an overnight stop at Howard. Jill’s sisters van has to be serviced on Friday , and their car looked at on Monday. We will go to the Queensland Caravan show either Saturday or Sunday.

While there I plan to visit an MSA sufferer who I have been in contact with. Then I will start the trip home – should be there the following Sunday

See you next time on the net
