Week 406 “Having a Coffee with Jill”

Jillsgym at Agnes Water Agnes water Beach From my caravan site Agnes Water Beach at Sunset Agnes Water Beach from LookoutHere I am in Agnes Water Beach Caravan Park listening to Macca after a 4k walk along the beach. Low tide and walking knee deep in the water was great. Agnes Water is on the Queensland Coast accessed from Bundaberg. The next town 6 k away is Seventeen Seventy (1770) named for the landing of Captain Cook as the year he landed aboard the Endeavour in Australia. My site is only 100met from the beach and looking out my window as I am writing this I can see the beautiful blue water. Jill would have loved this. There is a web cam on the beach, which displays live video of the area directly in front of the caravan park. I spent a while last evening waving towards the camera and Chris said Riley was excited when he could see Grandpa on the beach. The camera can be found if you Google Agnes Water Beach Caravan Park and then look for the web cam logo.

Next Wednesday Jill’s sister and her husband will arrive in their new caravan that they picked up in Brisbane on Friday. We will spend a couple of weeks before we start to head home.

I left Hervey Bay last Wednesday after a few days on my own when the family headed back home. Before leaving I did a few visits to places Jill & I had enjoyed, especially Café Balaena at the Marina. On our last trip Jill and I were at the café for lunch and Jill told the waitress it was my birthday and they produced a plate with Happy Birthday on it. Jill also loved their coffee.

After my family left, the site next to me ,was occupied by a family with two young girls. We talked and Ann the girls mum mentioned the MSA Awareness sign on my spare wheel. A friend of hers had been diagnosed with MSA and had been to the conference in Sydney a few months ago, a small world. I will talk to anyone about MSA to help get the information out there – Jill always said I talk too much so I had better be careful, as I know she will be listening. I received a message on Facebook from Mizzi an MSA patient and I have since spoken to her – her voice so reminded me of Jill. I am planning to visit her on my way home.

I have almost used all my current data on my phone only 81Mb and 3 days left.  So I will need to be careful for a couple of days. I have been texting, sending videos and photos to family and friends. Even got to Face time Riley last night.

Just had a call from my great neighbors who have been looking after Jessie and the house. No power and the freezer was defrosting. Question “Did you pay your power bill?” apparently there is a problem with the safety fuse and they are getting an electrician to look at it.  Sorry you have the fridge and freezer to look after.

See  you soon on the net.

    Dear Mac,
I have read your blog ever since I chanced upon it whilst searching for answers to my own beautiful husband’s diagnosis with MSA in 2008. I had not read it for a while as he passed away in February and only now can I bear to revisit sites like this. I am so sorry to hear of Jill’s passing and can relate to your pain and loneliness. After years of total focus on this insideous disease my life, as yours must be, is a bit like a rudderless ship. Reading about Jill helped me come to terms with what was happening to Bill as the progress and milestones of the disease held many parallels. I will now not keep up with your lives anymore, but wish all of you the very best and the hope of eventual peace. It helps that we loved our partners so much.
    Lyn Knowles.
