Week 390-393 “Jillsgym has arrived”

The last few weeks have been long days and even longer nights – but at least I am able to sleep – even though I wake frequently I am able to go back to sleep. I have had a couple of times away from home – out to Pat & Keith’s for lunch watching their solar system being installed . Our to Oxley Flats to see the opening of the new fire shed ( Station) where Keith is the fire captain. Of to visit Keiran and Louise and see their home and farm and their new kids ( baby goats)- Jill would have loved their home. Finally down to see Riley & Lucas and spend a few days getting cuddles from our two boys and hearing stories. Then back again to pick up “Jillsgym”.

I picked up the caravan on Tuesday and went back to stay the night with Chris and Nicole. The van appeared larger than I thought and a bit heavier when towing it in heavy traffic from the factory back to Chris’s. I guess it was the stop start and having vehicles of all sizes each side of you as well as in front and behind. No wonder I hate driving in the city. I backed it into the driveway and finally closed the  gates. What a relief.

Prior to coming down I had been looking for a model caravan I could give Riley and through eBay I found one in England. I ordered it and 5 days later it was here. I painted it the same colour as Jillsgym. It came with a 4wD vehicle attached . I thought Riley would love having a caravan the same as grandpa’s. He loved it but the 4wD was the most important.

Tuesday night I decided to have a sleep in it .  New smells, lots of lights and a hip that was not to impressed with the mattress  so not a lot of sleep. There were lights to show the signal strength of the TV – light to show there was power to the TV and it took me some time to turn each off until I was in close to near darkness. Like most new things it will take time to get used to. My main conciliation is that Jill would love it and she will be with me where we go.

Headed home on Wednesday and was surprised how well it towed in comparison to the heavy traffic of Tuesday. Fuel consumption was really good and I arrived home at about 3pm. I backed it up our drive with some assistance from a neighbour. My only concern was the roof clearance as on measurement I only had 20mm. Under the first beam – no problem, 2nd beam still clear  a bit closer than I had hoped. Third beam and I decided to get the ladder and check – the air conditioner is going to brush it. The van is completely under cover but before I can push it all the way back I will need some advise on how to gain me 10-20mm clearance at that point. Several of our neighbours have had a look and are favourably  impressed.

We are going to inter Jill’s ashes at the weekend – so everyone can say their final goodbyes. I know it has taken some time but of the one thing Jill & I didn’t talk about was where we wanted our ashes to be placed. I finally wanted somewhere she would be close and that I could go at any time. The decision was in the rose garden at the Wangaratta Cemetery. They have just open a new section and we were able to have a deep red rose ( not my first choice) and a pergola where we could sit  a couple of meters away.

Well I had better do my house keeping tasks before the family start to arrive.

See you soon on the net.
