Week 370 ” Weeks 365-367″

About 3 weeks ago I had to go into hospital to have a cataract removed from my left eye and as usual Jill said I don’t need any one to look after me. I arranged  a carer for the day who  was to arrive at 7.30 am. The day before Jill had me vacuum , mop , dust, clean windows before the carer arrived. She also had to have a meal prepared for the carer just in case she hadn’t bought her own. On the due day Jill insisted she be up , showered , dressed and makeup on, the carer arrived and fortunately she was one we had before and Jill was much more relaxed. My taxi a arrived – after the surgery Keith my brother inlaw picked me up. Much to my delight Jill survived he event which was great as I had to arrange to have my other eye done in 4 weeks.

On the Tuesday before Easter Jill supervised what I put into the van in the way of food and clothes as we were heading to Eildon Caravan Park for Easter and our usual family get together. I showered Jill on Tuesday evening so that we could get an early start on Wednesday. We finally left just before lunch and stopped at McDonalds for lunch and arrived just ahead of Jeannette & Gavin and set up camp. The day was an acute fire danger day and very hot. With only six there the first evening we sat around the space where our camp fire would have been. Over the next two days the rest arrived and with about 27-30 family and friends there Jill really enjoyed sitting around the camp fire in the evenings – usually  up until 11pm. The days with Riley and Lucas were just great and on Sunday – Easter Eggs were a must – Jill watched Riley search for eggs with the other kids. We had several walks around the park, meals at the pub and a great time. A time to forget. On Monday Riley, Lucas and his Mum & Dad had to  head home and our camp was much beginning to empty. Allison & Chris left on the Wednesday and finally we were down to four. Late in the after noon we were joined by another van and the noise level increased a little. My back had been playing up and following a couple of visits to a local chiropractor and not much improvement we decided to head home on Friday. With the help of our friends our van was packed up and hitched to our Jeep.

On the way home we pass through a small town of Yarck and the little shop sells home made pies which Jill loves. I had said no but as usual Jill won and we bought a cottage pastie  for Jill and a sausage roll ( that’s all they had left) . Jill also still had an Easter Egg which she was keen to eat. My back was causing me some grief and I had taken some pain killers which I think was making me drowsy – so to keep me awake Jill fed me most of the chocolate egg and we finally arrived home about and were able to get inside to be greeted by Jessie ( our 19 year old cat)

After eating dinner we watched the football on TV which finally finished around 11pm. As usual Jill wanted to watch the interviews  ( she really was a night person) Finally into bed for the last time.

We had a great time, talking, listening to music, singing and just enjoying life with our family and friends – what a memory Jill has left us with – thanks darling – I love you.

I will see you soon on the net – to keep Jill’s legacy alive.

    Dear Mac,
We were away on holiday for last few weeks, you and Jill were on my mind so much, I thought when I get back I will look up your blog and see how you both are. I had to re read twice to comprehend that Jill had passed away. So shocked and saddened. Our sympathy goes to you and your family.
Look forward to still reading your blog, gives me hope for the future.
