Week 304-5 “Goals for 2012″

We have been waiting for some information about the personnel vehicle lift and i decided to contact the financing body SWEP and got some good news that Jill’s application had been upgraded to  February as somebody had cancelled their application. I rang the suppliers and they promised they would install it in the next couple of weeks ” fingers crossed”. We will need to stay at Riley’s – great excuse to be with him – so that we can get the modification done.

Jill has continued with her speech exercises and that is almost finished – 4 weeks – twice a day – 7 days a week. Because we missed a couple of sessions we have those to catch up with and then our therapist will monitor Jill to see that she maintains the improvements. Jill is still embarrassed by the sound of her voice but the volume and clarity are much better.

Jill has also tried  a new wheel chair which would be modified to suit her. We are waiting for a quote and then see where we can get finance to help with the cost. Various government agencies partly fund these but there is usually a long waiting time  3-6 months or even more. Considering the vehicle modification has taken 4 months.

We have had visitors over the past couple of weeks and that has been great for Jill – and her voice exercises. We had Michael ad Amanda for the weekend and Jill’s sister and her husband dropped in last Monday for lunch ( which they bought) and then this weekend Allison & Chris came to a friends 40th birthday and stayed here. All these visits need Jill to talk and this means she has to practice the volume and clarity. She still looks to me to do most of the talking – unless I make myself scarce. Even when we get phone calls I try to hand Jill the phone and leave the room – works some times.

Before we go anywhere we have a stack of appointments to get out of the way. Jill has the urologist and dentist to see as well as the usual doctor’s visits. I have a three yearly colonoscopy to organise. Problem is that that is a day procedure in the private hospital and I need to organise somebody to help Jill.

We have been working on our goals for 2012 – Labour day weekend, Easter and then a major trip to Hervey Bay in July. The kids have organised each and we will be with them for some of the time. The caravan has been away getting serviced and every thing is in working order almost. The reversing camera on the van is not working so I have booked it into service on Wednesday morning.  If things are Ok on Saturday we may go to the Albury Caravan Show with Pat & Keith . We have also received an invitation to my cousins 50th wedding anniversary – only a day trip so we will have to see how Jill is . Pat suggested they come with us and when she asked Jill if she was going – No! No! No! Mac can . She is weakening in her resolve as it will almost be like a Keenan family get together.

I can hear jill whistling – her way of calling me.

DON”T FORGET TO VOTE FOR THE MSA FILM – see last blog entry

See you on the net.
