Week 270 “wonderful weather to relax”

Hi – we are still settled in Hervey Bay. The last  couple of weeks have been good except for Jill’s tooth – a couple of visits to a local dentist who could not do anything except give us a script for some antibiotics as the tooth had become infected. He recommend us to go to a surgeon on the Sunshine Coast about 2.5hours south of us. He arranged for Jill to have an x-ray and once he had that he contacted the surgery and arranged an appointment. They would not do anything until the infection had cleared so the appointment was for yesterday. An early start 6am as the appointment was for 9.15am .we arrived on time and by 10.30 Jill was back in the car for the drive back to Hervey Bay and at 1.30pm she was in the van resting. Liquid diet for the next couple of days.

The kids arrived back in the bay after their week at Cathedral Beach C/P on Fraser Island. Enjoyed themselves, caught fish and had a good time. Riley took a bit to settle into the holiday conditions and with another move back to the park he had to readjust again. Their sites were very close so we had plenty of visits from Riley. The weather has been cool overnight but in the low 20c during the day – just what we needed. We have had several walks down to the beach and we even walked out the Hervey Bay pier – about a kilometre . When we got back the wheel chair had a flat tire – I guess it was from the rough surface of the pier. On Wednesday the forecast was looking nasty – heavy rain for Thursday , Friday and Saturday. Chris and Nicole made the decision to hire one of the cabins and pack up the camper so the canvas didn’t get wet for the trip home. Riley had developed a heavy cold and was having trouble drinking and sleeping so the cabin was a good bet. They took him to the doctors on Friday while we were away and got some antibiotics which seemed to help him. They were all packed and gone before we got up this morning. I watched as Allison and Chris packed up their Jayco Hawk an they also headed off down south at about 8am and were catching up with Chris at Gondiwindi for their first overnight stop south.
Jill is still suffering from the tooth removal – very sore face and jaw. I helped her up to go to the shower and as we walked the length of the van I noticed she seemed not quite with me and as we reached the shower door  her legs started to buckle and I was able to lower her to the floor. She came to and said how did I get down on the floor – after a few minutes I was able to get her into the wheel chair and eventually into the shower. She had her shower and when  dressed she got back to the chair and had a drink and some more liquid diet – veggie soup and jelly. She said she felt very tired so I got her onto the bed where she has been asleep for a couple of hours. I am guessing that the tooth removal took a bit more out of her than we thought I will see how she is when she wakes.

We have kept in contact with home through Lorna ( looking after the house and cat.)  and Pat and Keith who have had a lousy couple of weeks , Kym’s youngest Hamish was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) http://www.leukaemia.org.au/web/aboutdiseases/leukaemias_all.php. He is in Brisbane hospital having Chemo etc. Our thoughts are with Kym,  James and the kids. as well as pat & Keith.

Jill has just woken – the phone rang – we have got it hooked up to some external speakers so that we can hear it. She is ready for some afternoon teat – obviously feeling a bit better. It was Chris on the phone and they had arrived in Gondiwindi.

Well I had better get Jill her afternoon tea – see you soon on the net
