Week 227-8 ” Be carefull what you lift”

Jill has just had three fantastic week ends surrounding her birthday; actually we both had great weekends. Michael arrived home three weeks ago, cut and coloured Jill’s hair, Followed by Chris, Nicole and Riley. Riley brings a new breath of fresh air to our lives and a beautiful meal away from home. Then yesterday Allison and Chris arrived to take us out to lunch which we shared with Pat and Keith. This capped off a great birthday for Jill. During the week we also had Jean arrive and stay for dinner with us. These visits and chances to get out of the house are certainly great.

Our weather has not changed a very wet October , about double our normal average for October, all the water storages are full even the Hume on the Murray is full for the first time this decade. I see we are back to flood warnings for the Ovens & King rivers.

Our weeks continue with the usual daily physio and speech exercises. These are punctuated with the visits of our speech and physio therapists and the continence nurse and the odd problem with the catheter. Skype is also very much a part of our lives and the visits by Riley and others keep us alive. We had a Skype from Edwin to tell us Josie was in Geelong Hospital recovering from a quadruple bypass and valve replacement and it was great to get an email yesterday to say she was home. I warned her not to lift any thing  as our experience after I had my bypass was lifting a bag of cement and moving the wire that ties the sternum together, every time Jill hugs me she says she can feel it move.

Family tree still takes up a lot of time – looking through the old issues of the Argus I found the engagement and wedding announcements of my parents. It was surprising to note they were engaged in December 1936 and married in Jan 1937. Even Jill’s uncle’s birth was announced as Robert John and he was always William John, even on his birth certificate.

Macca has finished so I had better get Jill into the shower – I am being whistled to at the moment

See you next week on the net.
