Week 60 – Neurologists ?

Yes we got to Melbourne on Thursday. Our appointment was at 2.40 pm and we arrived just on time, except I had left the referral in the car back at the motel. There is no where to park so the decision was to book into a motel for toilet use and some where to leave the car. We took a taxi to the neurologist’s rooms.

Jill and I are thinking it is time to look for a new neurologist. We explained out trip to China as well as our reasons for making the trip. He showed some interest but in his mind there is no scientific proof that the stem cells will be of any benefit and that certain people are only out there to give false hope and make huge amounts of money.

He did several tests on Jill’s reactions, movement, balance and blood pressure and basically said things were stable. We asked about the use of drugs such as terazosin only to be told that there was no scientific study done that would show any benefits- but if you want to have a go OK but he would not recommend it. He complemented Jill on her exercise regime and was encouraging about the speech therapy we will undergo next Wednesday. He followed us to the reception and told his office receptionist to make an appointment for August 2008 in 12 months time.

We have continued to have a good week, Jill has been to the netball courts on Monday and Wednesday and her endurance has improved greatly. No rewards this week just exercise.

We booked out of the motel and spent the night with Chris and Nicole in their new home.

We were both very impressed – Jill said it was time for us to have a new home – not likely. We sat in the theatre room and watched various movie extracts, pictures and TV on the large screen on the wall. I think this is what has Jill all excited. A good nights sleep in a king sized bed – I could not reach Jill. We set off to Wangaratta early next morning and with the aid of the GPS in the Jeep we managed to find our way back to the Hume Freeway via Whittlesea and Wandong.

While I am writing this we are watching Dame Edna and every now and then I have to stop to laugh. We also watched Hooked on Fraser, which is about the Toyota Fishing Classic which is conducted on Fraser Island each May. Must talk to the boys and see what can be organised for next year. As you may be aware we love fishing on Fraser Island.

We have not had any pictures from the Oz travellers again this week so hope everything is Ok – They will be celebrating on Wednesday – HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEANNETTE.

It’s only 8.30pm and the pets are asking for food – an early night to night

See you next week on the net
