Week 59 – This time last year – we had just arrived back from China

I normally write this on Saturday evening but its Sunday morning and Macca is on the radio. I have just let Jake in – not so cold this morning and Jess is sitting on the next chair.

This has been an eventful week and I’m another year older. Jill has made another forward step and we have been back down at the netball courts – only once but that was great. It got us out of the house and gave Jill the chance to do some endurance walking. She walked the length of the five courts with the walker and the return journey was a combination of crutches, my arm and the walker. It was exhausting and she was happy to get back in the car. As a treat we stopped at McDonalds and got a soft serve ice-cream one of Jill’s favourites – only 50c – she is easily satisfied. This time last year we had just arrived back from NanShan China. It is hard to think about all the things that have happened in the past year and a bit. Jill has shown amazing courage to just keep going and not give into this bloody disease. It reminds me of a slogan used by Berger Paints some 30-40 years ago in another life time – JUST KEEP ON KEEPING ON.

We are booked into the Neurologist in Melbourne on Thursday – so fingers crossed that we get there this time. We will get the chance to see Chris and Nicole’s new home.

We have had a couple of problems with our hot water and on Thursday it finally gave up the ghost. I rang our gas plumber early Friday morning and by lunch time we had a new Everhot 320 gas hot water unit fitted. So Jill could finally have a shower. We had to move the caravan to give them access to the back yard.

Our pattern pave was redone on Monday and the colour was a match this time except for the rain which has put white marks on it. The contractor was back on Friday to have a look. He will be back next Monday to redo it as long as there is no rain forecast for a couple of days so he can seal it as well.

The Cats are still on a roll with an impressive win last night in WA. I now have a Cats scarf, shirt and hat which I will start wearing proudly. No news or photos from the OZ travellers but expect they are having a great time.

Allison and Chris arrived about 6pm yesterday – just as well the hot water was fixed and we have been watching a slide show of their recent trip to Fraser Island and Hervey Bay.

Well I can hear the others in the starting to move about so I had better get the bacon and eggs out for breakfast

See you next week on the net.

Jill at the net ball courts At least we can now have a shower - with our new Everhot Hot water unit.
