Week 40 – Paint Brush Lily – a ray of sunshine.

It’s 9 pm and we have just returned home from the netball courts. Jill prefers to walk after tea; even though it’s in the dark it is also much cooler. Fortunately there are lights in the car park which reflect across the courts. Jill’s walking is improving each time we go. This evening she walked with the arthritic crutch and my arm the length of 4 courts, and 6 courts with the wheelie walker. Beth is still working on Jill’s back and her walking ,this is certainly showing some improvment. We have three or four more visits before Easter . Jill would like to try a  short run to try out the caravan for a couple of days to see how she would cope. We have been going to Eildon for Easter for the past few years. So fingers crossed Eildon here we come.

We have been looking at our exercise equipment to see what we can adapt for use while we are on the road. Simple things such as the step into the van will become our stairs. We have a set of hydraulic leg steppers which will become similar to our leg exercise chair.  The exercise ball and netball will be part of our caravan equipment. It is exceptionally important to continue the exercise regime. We will also be able to take the vocastim machine with us and use it exactly the same as at home, even the voice exercises can be done on the move – play them on the CD player in the car.

On Wednesday evening we had a call from Chris and Nicole – they had just arrived back from Fraser Island and moved into a resort at the marina at Hervey Bay for a week. Chris said they did not turn their phone on while at Kingfisher Resort and had a great and relaxing time. They are heading back down the Pacific Highway through Byron Bay , Coffs Harbour and down to Tuross Heads for Evan’s wedding next week end.

The drought is continuing, still no rain and Wangaratta’s water supply is getting lower. They have just sunk a couple of bores to augment the supply from the river. A photo in the local paper on Friday shows the Ovens River below Wangaratta as a series of lagoons with no flow. Our garden is surviving on the water from our showers, washing machine and evaporative air conditioner. We have lost a few shrubs and expect to loose a few more. Amongst the dry is a small ray of sunshine. From the garden of my parents we were given a Paint brush Lily and the other morning to my surprise the flower had started to emerge. Have a look at the photo below.

Jill’s in bed and my two mates have moved in beside me as usual. I really think they think it’s time to be fed.

See you next week on the net
