Week 33 – Welcome home Rachel

I have just been reading Rachel’s last Blog before heading home and her comment –

“I’ve also realised that having a problem such as ataxia is nothing to be ashamed about; no matter how I look when I walk or fall”

I know how Jill feels about how others may see her. Rachel we all need someone strong to encourage us to continue and you are doing that to all those who have read your dairy. I know how much you want to be home with the boys and family.

WELCOME HOME FROM US ALL

We have had an eventful week commencing with Beth taking Jill to the netball courts and Jill walking the length of a court (30meters) with Beth on one side and me on the other – Jill did not touch us all the way. This was followed up be a cappuccino.

Allison arrived on Tuesday having stopped at Shepparton to look for an outfit for Jill to wear to Chris & Nicole’s wedding. A phone call and the decisions were made. Jill was delighted with Allison’s selection. Only problem was the size and we needed to swap it on Thursday when Allison was returning home.

To demonstrate Jill’s improvement we took Allison to the netball courts and showed her the walk. We then went down the street to pick out some shoes and get a cup of coffee. This was the first time Jill had been up the street since the fall. We followed this by going to Hollywood’s for a meal, again another first.

We arrived home about 9.15pm just in time to see McNaught’s Comet. It was an amazing site – with it’s tail; stretched out behind. My photo leaves a lot to be desired.

We had a quiet Australia Day – normal exercises and a swim before dinner – very cool breeze so the swim was very short – 32C in the water 25C out. Saturday is very windy and the temp is pretty low – no swim today.

Michael and Gus arrived just in time for lunch; we watched the Australian Women’s tennis final which was over in a flash. Jill is sitting up having her hair cut and coloured be Michael. She has been waiting for this for some time- so I hope to see the smiles tonight. While Jill’s highlights are setting Michael has cut my hair. At least another six weeks.

Water restrictions move to level 4 on Wednesday – no watering lawns or gardens and we can only top up the pool with a bucket. The only water in the garden will be the laundry and shower – so I don’t know how much will survive. We will need to prey even harder for some rain.

See you next week on the net.
